West Virginia bow hunters are not happy with a National Rifle Association proposal to open four counties to gun hunting for deer.
During Sunday's Natural Resources Commission meeting in Flatwoods, about 152 bow hunters opposed changing hunting in Logan, McDowell, Mingo and Wyoming counties from an archery-only season.

The Division of Natural Resources closed the four southern coalfields counties to gun season in 1979, citing a depleted deer population as the reason.
DNR has resisted attempts to reinstate a gun season saying the deer population in the four hasn't sufficiently rebounded.
DNR Director Frank Jezioro says there a no plans to change the season.
No one from the NRA attended the meeting.
